| LATEST: The Hummel brand has new owners, and they will be continuing with the MI Hummel Club. They have retained the skilled craftsmen that have been producing Hummel for many years, and the figures will be made at the same premises, using the same unique techiniques of manufacture. |
FIGURES:
M. I. Hummel figurines are instantly recognisable for their
charm and detail.
Based on the art of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel, who created
her imagery based on the folklore of Lower Bavaria, where she spent
her childhood, and on the Swabian Alps where she lived in the Siessen
Convent as an adult, Hummel figurines depict a world of children
in a more carefree time.
Crafted by Goebel in Rödental, Germany since 1930, these figurines
have become favourites with collectors worldwide. Today, the company
still works directly with the members of Sister Maria's Franciscan
order to ensure the fidelity of the figurines.
More than 500 pieces now make up the Hummel collection. Each piece
goes through more than 700 painstaking hand operations before it
reaches completion - and that's not counting 50 quality control
checks!
Please contact Raines for information
on which pieces are currently available in New Zealand.
