The company's original china works was established
in Derby, England in 1748. As a reward for the factory's excellence,
King George III granted the owner the rare honour of incorporating
a crown into the backstamp. Much later, in 1890, Queen Victoria
gave her seal of approval by granting the title "The Royal
Crown Derby Porcelain Company".
